Canicross is a young sport discipline in our country, but very consolidated in Europe, it consists of running with a dog tied to the waist with a belt and a shooting line that goes to the dog's harness. It is usually practiced on land, although occasionally it can be practiced on snow, running in this case with snowshoes if it is soft snow or with sneakers if it is hard.
Canicross was introduced in Spain about 8 years ago, in regular competitions. At the federative level, it depends on the Winter Sports Federation. Throughout Europe Canicross has a lot of fans, there are important championships dedicated exclusively to this modality and with a very high competitive level.
The man-dog binomial makes this sport especially attractive. Enjoying nature in the company of a good friend and discovering a hobby in common with him, the passion for running, provide added value to fans of the world of mountain races and at the same time friends of animals.
To practice it you only need a special shooting harness for the dog, walking harnesses are not valid, a shooting line with a shock absorber and a canicross belt that will be wide to protect the runner's back from the dog's pulls.
