EHEIM AKTIV is acid washed and activated for water absorption (active surface area 1200 m²/g).
Therefore, it quickly binds harmful chemicals such as pesticides, medical treatment residues, and other substances and retains them.
The water in the aquarium becomes really clear.
Its use is especially important after treating animals with drugs.
EHEIM AKTIV should only be used for a limited amount of time (about 4 weeks) and then withdrawn or replaced.
In layered configuration EHEIM AKTIV filter should be used immediately after mechanical (eg EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and biological filter media (eg EHEIM SUBSTRATpro) in the provided net bag.

Advice:
Use only adsorption filter media for a few weeks, as harmful substances just bind and can loosen up after a while and be introduced back into the water. At the very least they should be changed regularly. Normally adsorbent filtration is only needed during aquarium setup or after drug treatments.
