Eheim BioMech Universal Bio-mechanical Filtration
Filter substrate combined mechanical and biological filtration. Filtration material compatible with any filter that combines the mechanical action of the tubes with the biological filtration effect of the beneficial bacteria in the filter. It has been developed and tested in specialized laboratories. The tubes retain the dirt particles, preventing them from passing to the next phase and reducing the effectiveness of the filtration. It also serves as a support for the settlement of the beneficial bacteria of the filter that carry out the biological filtration. It can be used in fresh and salt water aquariums. It is a product of the Eheim brand, a leading German company worldwide in the aquarium industry, a guarantee of excellent quality and durability.
When the water from the aquarium enters the filter, it swirls between the grooves of the rings and dirt particles are retained. The treated and prefiltered water continues its way to the next phase of filtration. The optimal structure of the pores of the substrate (with a surface area of 400 m2/L) guarantees adequate biological decomposition. Does not change the pH or chemistry of the aquarium. This filter media is very easy to clean and can be reused multiple times.
To keep the aquarium water in perfect condition, the filter materials must be changed regularly. Never change all the filter media at the same time, to avoid destroying the beneficial bacterial population in the aquarium.

To achieve the best results, the filter materials must be placed in an orderly manner (respecting the layer structure) so that the action of each phase complements each other.
