The blue sponge or foamex acts as a mechanical and biological filtration, retaining even the smallest dirt particles.

The blue Eheim sponges have been cut to the same shape as the filter. This special structure allows to carry out the most suitable cleaning. The water passes evenly through the sponges, while they retain both fine and coarse particles through mechanical filtration.
