Dog food specifically formulated to help lose weight and maintain it. The management of obesity in dogs usually consists of a combination of a weight loss diet with increased daily exercise routines and, perhaps, the administration of two daily meals, the reduction of the number of treats, may be the way more effective control of obesity.
It helps maintain animal owner motivation and compliance, facilitates careful monitoring of the individual's response, provides opportunities to make necessary changes to the control regimen, and reduces the likelihood of a rebound effect leading to weight gain.
