Indications

Treatment duration:
For the dissolution of struvite uroliths or the elimination of a urinary infection, it is necessary to administer Urinary S/O for a period of 4 to 12 weeks. To avoid possible relapses, Urinary S/O associated with an antibiotic should be administered for at least 1 month after a negative bacteriological urine culture result has been obtained.

Moist food, due to its high water content, favors urinary dilution. Since about 64% of cases of FLUTD* are idiopathic cystitis, the administration of wet food is recommended in cases of recurrent cystitis.

Desaturated urine is an environment where urinary crystals cannot precipitate. This prevents the development of struvite and oxalate stones.

Urinary S/O effectively dissolves struvite stones.

Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), naturally present in healthy bladder mucosa, are decreased in idiopathic cystitis. This decrease, responsible for greater permeability, facilitates access to germs, toxins and ions, causes inflammation and the stimulation of pain sensitive receptors.

Urinary S/O wet food is particularly indicated in cases of recurrent idiopathic cystitis. Due to its action on both oxalate and struvite stones, Urinary S/O Feline is the first choice prior to stone identification. It is indicated for prolonged use and it is particularly important to ensure that it is the only source of food for the cat, since access to other foods can trigger the reappearance of stones.
