Treatment duration:
For the dissolution of struvite uroliths or the elimination of a urinary infection, it is necessary to administer Urinary Canine for a period of 5 to 12 weeks. To avoid possible relapse, Urinary Canine should be administered for at least 1 month after a negative urine bacteriological culture has been obtained.
Urinary S/O Canine helps effectively dissolve struvite stones. An acidified urinary pH is unfavorable for the development of bacteria, which are usually associated with struvite stones.
Unsaturated urine creates an environment where stones cannot grow. This prevents the development of struvite and oxalate stones.
Urinary dilution decreases the concentration of struvite and oxalate stones. An increased urine volume also contributes to bladder maintenance.
Magnesium is a component of struvite stones (magnesium ammonium phosphate uroliths).
Additional Information:
A moderate increase in sodium content causes urine dilution and, together with its acidification, guarantees effective prevention of struvite stones, also creating an unfavorable environment for the formation of calcium oxalate stones. Urinary Canine is indicated for the primary treatment of stones prior to their identification.
